Advice and Casework

We are currently prioritising urgent immigration cases for people who are vulnerable and rough sleeping, destitute and/or have children.  We aim to regularise their immigration status in the UK, which assists people with access to employment, benefits, education and health.

We are currently accepting referrals only through the Sub Regional Immigration Advice project (South West Region) for homeless migrants, and through our Nest project – which supports vulnerable migrant families through four community settings in Lambeth and Southwark, offering immigration advice and support for families referred through that project.

For any enquiries or signposting please call us on 0203 490 3443, where we can provide basic advice and signpost you to the appropriate services.

SLRA is registered with the Office for Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC) and we provide immigration advice up to Level 3.

We recognize the barriers to accessing high-quality, free immigration advice, and we pride ourselves on providing free and confidential immigration advice. Our specialist advisors have extensive experience in working with refugees, asylum-seekers and other vulnerable migrants, and we provide our immigration advice in tandem with holistic support through our community groups and generalist advice.

Our immigration advice service includes:

  • Specialist immigration advice
  • Further leave and indefinite leave to remain applications
  • Applications for Recourse to Public Funds (Change of Conditions)
  • Support to survivors of domestic abuse, and victims of modern slavery and trafficking
  • Initial asylum advice
  • Supporting clients to access good quality specialist support and advice

We are able to give initial advice over the phone and can refer and signpost to other agencies if we are unable to take on a case.

Our organisation is accredited by the Advice Quality Standard (AQS) and we provide our clients with advice and casework on housing and homelessness, access to welfare benefits, access to asylum support, and support to those who face barriers to accessing accommodation/support due to their immigration status.

For general advice on welfare benefits, housing issues or debt, contact the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) on 0800 144 8848 or find your local office here.
